Our history on the Coast
We’ve Been The Trusted Choice For Generations Of Patients
It’s a little-know fact that our doctors have been responsible for looking after the vision and health of the Coast’s local residents for decades... in fact we are rapidly approaching fifty years! We couldn’t be more proud to be a part of our community’s heritage.

It’s Experience And Dedication That Sets Us Apart...
When Dr. Frank Decker began visiting the Sunshine Coast in 1962 he would bring two briefcases with him; one for his optometry equipment and another with eyeglasses. Appointments for eye exams could be arranged at the Bal Block in lower Gibsons where Dr. Decker would visit once each week. In time Dr. Decker’s practice was turned over to Dr. Pamela Earle (in what is now the Gibsons Medical Clinic) and then on to Dr. Grant Wood in 1993. Dr. Wood was joined by Dr. David English (Elphinstone grad Class of 1982!). Dr’s Wood and English took over the practice of Dr. James Johnson in 2003 and were later joined by Dr. Robin Simpson and most recently Dr. Katherine Pratt.
